Masaki Oikawa
A curator’s approach to branding—translating ideas, values, and aesthetics into meaningful identities and experiences.
Based in Japan, working globally. With over 10 years of experience in museums and galleries, I founded OADL to work more closely with founders and artists. I drink too much coffee, too much beer, and think a lot about why things matter.

About
I studied aesthetics from my undergraduate through graduate years, pursuing the theory of beauty.
I began my career as a curator at the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art. I later served as a director at Issey Miyake, and subsequently as a curator at the Shiseido Gallery.
Across these roles, I have curated numerous exhibitions spanning contemporary art, design, and craft. In parallel with my curatorial practice, I work as a designer, producing projects across a wide range of media—from graphic works on paper to three-dimensional objects such as packaging and products, as well as spatial design, writing, and copywriting for clients in Japan and internationally.
